What’s the granny stereotype?

Ari Cohen published a photo book called Advanced Style: Older and Wiser that defies the granny stereotype. When we picture grandma, we have this image in our head of a cute, little, platinum blonde woman in floral designed clothes with a pastel cardigan. His photoshoot aspired to counteract the patronizing or negative images of the elderly. While they were working, he saw that one 97-year old model was filled with so much life and energy, and said that was a powerful moment. I admire this movement to bring spirit to aging and refute the inequality that is ageism. His photography inspired a documentary to show old people in a different light, and it is becoming a global phenomenon.
