Across the nation college students are fighting back against the pervasive rape culture that envelops their campuses, much more quiet however, are the voices of younger generations. Girls in middle school who are being subject to sexual abuse often times to not have the outlets or support system to report and recover from sexual abuse. Recently a young girl reported sexual rape after a video of her being sexually abused surfaced. Despite her pleas for help and accusations her school did not take her seriously or believe her.  In fact they punished her and sent her home. After being interview the young girl said she’s still recovering from the incident and confused about why she was punished for telling the truth.“Everyone was blaming things on me,” she said “It was so much pressure. I couldn’t take it. At times I felt like giving up on my life.” Unfortunately this story and others like it are not well known. It is these stories and these types of young women that the mainstream media chooses to either ignore or vilify. It is so important for us as media consumers and members of this society be searching for and listening to the voices of young women. This link below is to an article that details the story.
