U.S. Women's Soccer Team Files Equal Pay Complaint

Carli Lloyd (left) and Megan Rapinoe are two of the five star players who filed a wage complaint against U.S. Soccer. The players say that the whole team supports their case, which accuses the national federation of paying male players far more money.

Five iconic players from the U.S. women's national soccer team have filed an official complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against the U.S. Soccer Federation regarding the pay disparity between men and women. The women have filed and stated that the U.S. Soccer Federation pays the reigning World Cup champions far less than the male team...in fact, thousands of dollars less at nearly every level of competition. While the claim was filed officially by five of the women, the entire team has committed to support the act. According to ESPN, "the women are paid almost four times less."A few of the players have been interviewed on The Today Show and have started creating hashtag trends on Twitter to spread awareness. Just as Hope Solo said, "In this day in age, it's about equality. It's about equal rights, it's about equal pay." I am very curious and hopeful to see where this claim goes and that it will be approved.
