Melissa Harris-Perry out at MSNBC

Last week, Melissa Harris-Perry wrote a letter to her #NERDLAND staff that went viral. Harris-Perry hosted a show that was known for bringing diverse voices to the table, and talking about issues that often go unheard on mainstream media channels. In her letter, MHP wrote that she was not willing to be MSNBC's "mammy, brown bobble head." The cancellation of Nerdland is a sad moment for minorities and people of color, because MHP was one of the true champions for voicing the unheard's thoughts. The cancellation of Nerdland illuminates the struggle that still exists in getting media representation for minorities.
