"Get out my house with all that gay"
On February 12, Martin Blackwell doused his stepson, Anthony Gooden, and boyfriend, Marquez Tolbert, with boiling water after catching them in bed together in his house. They received 3rd degree burns and after he kicked them outside and made them waiting in the cold saying, "Get out my house with all that gay". Blackwell is charged with aggravated battery, while both Gooden and Tolbert had receive critical medical help. This case shows you that even in today's time where the LGBTQ community is receiving more cultural and political respect and support, the mindset of America hasn't changed. Whether or not Blackwell will receive punishment for his actions against Gooden and Tolbert is up to the judicial system. But where the real problem is where can Gooden and Tolbert go and feel safe in their enviroment and not have to experience the gay hatred.
