When Asian Americans Appear On TV, It's Usually As One Of These Racist Stereotypes
This article lists ways in which Asian Americans are portrayed in the media, when they actually get a spot in the media. Similar to our class discussion, the article focuses on the fact that Asian Americans fulfill the role of either the role-model minority or simply very stereotypical. The article mentions how Asian men are emasculated in the media and how the women are hyper-sexualized. One interesting perspective in this article was that Asian Americans are often portrayed at the expense of other marginalized groups.
