Karly Morgan
There was an earthquake today. A massive, devastating earthquake that spanned multiple countries.
Why haven't we heard about it?
The earthquake effected Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. Pakistani official Arif Ullah told The Associated Press that the magnitude-7.1 quake was centered near Afghanistan's border with Tajikistan. Germany's GFZ Research Center for Geosciences set the quake's magnitude at 6.5.
It's a sad world when something as universal as injury, death, loss, trauma, and natural disasters are overlooked in favor of racial and religious tension. I hope that as the weeks go on, the US media covers the earthquake more thoroughly and there are ways to provide aid for people in need.
There are so many concepts from our class that we can all apply to this, but i'm just feeling overwhelming sadness right now. I really do care about people on a global scale, and something like our entire nation's media turning their cameras and hearts away from hurting people just because of ideological differences is too painful for me.
