The Legacy of the Black Mamba

Kobe Bryant is probably one of the best basketball players to ever grace the hardwood floors behind Michael Jordan. On April 13th, he would score sixty points in his last game the most by any player in their final game. His career started twenty years ago when he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets but was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Even though he has five championships he still had some trials and tribulations throughout his career. The media has tried to destroy his career on countless occasions such as the rape case, his feud with his teammates, and questioning his overall character. What can be drawn from this is that the media will try to poison your career one day and then the glorify you when you have done outstanding things. The first day the media tried to end Kobe's career was on June 30th 2003, when he was accused of raping a concierge at a five star hotel he checked into. This took place a week after the Lakers failed to win their fourth consecutive championship. In the end the case was dropped. The next season he told ESPN he would change his number from 8 to 24 creating a fresh start for himself where he career took off from there. Kobe Bryant is a prime example of a hero's story.
