This week, Pat McCrory made headlines once again. No he did not pass another controversial bill, he instead posted some clarifying statements. McCrory said he wants to protect some rights of the LGBTQ+ community, but did not even attempt to change the worst portion of the law. Honestly, it looks like McCrory is backtracking and trying to push for open dialogue in order to cover for his hateful bill. HB2 sends a message to people who identify as transgender. It strips of their rights and casts them as this dangerous other. Once again, heteronormativity has been pushed in legislation. McCrory needs to do more than clarify, he needs to toss out the bill!
