Last night's episode of Real World: Go Big or Go Home addressed many issues often ignored by the media. The conversation discussed issues of racism and homophobia within the house. Jenna, a house member, was accused of being a racist homophobic. While some of Jenna's tendencies and comments have been uninformed and offensive, she was a target of frankenbiting. The use of frankenbiting manipulated Jenna to be a victim of the single story phenomena. A white, southern ditz with a thick southern draw, easily fits the mold of another played out stereotype. The discussion that this tactic lead to, however, was an intimately honest exchange of view points between two people with differing ideologies. The exchange of knowledge between the two should remind the producers that people will tune in for more than sex and booze.
