This year, a new movie called Me Before You is coming to theaters. It stars Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. This is a particularly unique love story that is relevant to our class studies this week because the man in this love story is disabled.
I haven't seen the film yet, so I'm not sure if he is paraplegic or just bound to a wheelchair, but based on the press surrounding the film I think he's paraplegic.
I sincerely hope that this film does what I hope it will for images of people with disabilities. This film has a platform and an opportunity to present a complex and beautiful image of a person with a severe disability as deep, lovable, worthy, and human.
