Bomani Jones

Today on Mike and Mike and ESPN talk show Bomani Jones was a fill in for one of the Mike's. Jones was wearing a Cleveland Indians themed shirt with the slogan "Caucasians" written in place of the Indian's slogan as well as an image of a Caucasian male. This shirt brought into discussion of how people shouldn't have a problem with the name Caucasian if they don't have a problem with the name Indian. Jones thinks that we should just go away with race and color concepts for mascots, because all mascots are based off of previous stereotypes. I would be interested to see if individuals initiate the push for team names to change from racial slurs and stereotypes to names less offensive to others. Many Native Americans tried to push for this change in the past but their voices were not heard . Do you feel that the changing of the name would affect the history and culture of the organization?
