The WGN network has unveiled its new show Underground for the new prime time 9 o'clock slot. The new show features Jurnee Smollet, and is produced by John Legend. I must admit that when I first the advertisement for the show I was a little skeptical about watching it, because I did not want to support another show that depicts African Americans as slaves. Similarly, knowing who controls these channels and who the media gatekeepers are (being white males). However, after watching a couple of episodes I must say I applaud the producers and directors for accurately telling these stories. Now giving some explanation to the show. It is about a group of slaves in Georgia who are planning to escape from their slave masters plantation; and wind up escaping from the plantation. The show depicts the planning that the slaves did before leaving the plantation. They also show the politics and the oppression within the black community. Similarly, they show the white people that assisted the slaves on their journey to the north. I highly advise everyone to watch this show.
that sounds interesting I have not heard anything about the show, I need to check it out. It is always good when to watch shows and even movies that are telling accurate stories about the history of people and our country.
