
The New York Post just announced it's endorsement for Trump for president. Rupert Murdoch, owner of the New York Post, is a media elite, because as you may have guessed, he does not just own the New York Post, but also 21st Century Fox, Fox News, HarperCollins, and many more different types of media outlets. As we have learned in class, the media elite have a huge influence on the populous by setting the agenda, and determining the content so that we are always swimming in the messages they want us to hear. This endorsement guarantees even more air time on TV, in print, and on the radio, if we could even imagine more Trump. Making sure that we, as critical consumers, are aware of when corporations, particularly in the media, are endorsing a politician is extremely important because without knowing we are more likely to just see their messages as unbiased and true. More Trump means potencially more voters believing his rhetoric, and that is a really scary thought.
