The Zika Virus!

The Zika Virus is spread to people through mosquito bites. Some common symptoms of this virus includes fever, rash, joint pain, and red eye. In May 2015, the first case of was confirmed in Brazil where there were sudden outbreaks with pregnant women. This outbreak lead to reports classifying this virus as the Guillain-Barre syndrome where pregnant women was giving birth to babies with birth defects and other poor pregnancy outcomes. On February 4th, 2016, it was reported that this virus has reached the United States where it can now be sexually transmitted. The first case was found in Texas where the outlook of this virus has shifted due to the fact it wasn't such a big issue because the virus was in Brazil, but it seems to raise attention now that its actually in the United States now. This shows how power is embedded within the system because the dominant force is now taking action, making Americans more aware and treating this serious because they feel this virus can only create an outbreak throughout the United States just like what happened in Brazil.
