Free speech--unless it's rap?

First 2-3 minutes are good and introduce the blog post!

Bell vs. Itawamba County School Board: Bell, a Mississippi high school student, wrote a rap song about male athletic coaches sexually harassing his fellow female students and was "punished for using the wrong art form, rap music, as his voice for protest". While this conflicts with the 1st Amendment, Civil Rights law, etc., the larger issue at hand is the role of race. Rap is recognized as an artistic form of social protest from African American and Latinos communities, used to confront institutions of power; and in this instance, the unjust suspension of Bell is a reminder of who holds the power. Because the music offended them, with as little as the lift of a finger, they silenced this fair outcry of injustice.
