Ronda Rousey Apologizes for posting photo shopped picture

Last night UFC fighter Ronda Rousey made an appearance on the Fallon Show. Late last night she posted a picture of her on the show that someone sent her to share. After figuring out it was photo shopped to make her arms look smaller she then posted this picture above showing the actual photo beside it. In her caption she writes

"I have to make an apology to everyone - I was sent a picture to share on social for Fallon that was altered without me knowing to make my arms look smaller. I won't say by who - I know it was done with severely misplaced positive intentions - but this goes against everything I believe and I am extremely proud of every inch of my body. And I can assure you all it will never happen again. I could not be more appalled and hope you all forgive me"

This is a perfect example of what we have been talking about recently in class with body image and how the media tries to portray the ideal body type. Im proud and thankful that Ronda Rousey made this post. She has a good following, especially of young women, and her going back and stating that she's proud of her body type and doesn't believe in this ideal body image the media portrays may speak volumes to her following.

  1. I agree with the " severely missed placed positive intentions", because whoever altered the picture get it in hopes to make Rhonda look better. In doing so, he/she is endorsing this unattainable idea of beauty.
