Beats By Dre have released a new product which allows athletes to train with wireless headphones. Within their two major commercials for this product, famous athletes Cam Newton from the Carolina Panthers and Lebron James from the Cleveland Cavilers are the ones shown. In both ads, these athletes are shown shirtless with "sweat" which is actually oils and liquids to magnify definition and tone on their bodies. This image of the male body provides the notion that "If you want to be rich and successful you have to look like this and wear this product". The African-American male in sports these days has been referred to as "beast-like" or "specimen" in the media so its interesting to see a commercial reinforce these thoughts, not through hearing words but seeing the images visually.
