President Obama announces new proposal for equal pay
January 26th, President Obama made an announcement that his administration is proposing to collect pay data based on race, ethnicity, and gender in businesses with over 100 employees. Businesses will have this data reported in order to ensure employees that there is no discrimination in pay. This is an effort to continue the agenda to have equal pay amongst all workers in the United States, as past statistics show an extreme variance in average pay amongst citizens of color and females. President Obama made a thought provoking question that sums up the intentions for his proposal, "what kind of example does paying women less set for our sons and daughters?"
